Lands
Not only do you get some of your favorite
basic land arts as voted upon by the Magic community, but also there are many different lands for those who need that perfect
manabase. With the well-needed removal of the Urzatron, Tenth Edition now has
room to feature the Urza's Legacy manlands. From Treetop Village to Ghitu Encampment,
these lands are ready to spring up and attack at a moment's notice. Also, with
the return of the two-colored painlands, we can once again play two or even three-colored decks with very little problem.
Black Borders and New Art
For tournament players such as myself,
I generally shy away from the core sets of the past due to the displeasing nature of having white borders on only a few of
my cards, instead opting for the older and more expensive versions of the card. However,
with Tenth Edition being entirely in black borders, players won't have to go to great monetary lengths to make sure that their
weapons of choice are both appealing visually and mechanically. With over 50
pieces of new art, those who are into Magic's artistic side will not be disappointed.
Token Creatures
With Tenth Edition featuring such hits
as Siege-Gang Commander and The Hive, there will be many opportunities to create token creatures during your games. And what better way to do so than with the creature tokens that will be included in every pack? Now you won't have to go scrounging for a piece of paper to write the info on, only to forget about it
since it looks like a piece of trash.
Old-School Powerhouses
With the return of old-school powerhouses
like Incinerate, Crucible of Worlds, and many others, Tenth Edition promises to be one of the strongest core sets ever. Whether you want to beat down with Troll Ascetic, or hold off the opposition with
Steel Golem, the power of this set is definitely something to behold.
Although I only scratched the surface on the hundreds of things that
this set has to offer, I hope that you enjoyed it. See you at Game Day!
